It is easy to become overwhelmed by negativity these days. Natural disasters, global wars and a sinking economy not only envelop the news around the world, but also have a direct effect on our daily lives.

Family, friends, jobs, and home life are seriously afflicted with the bombardment of depressing, frustrating happenings every day. It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of actually attracting more negativity.

Open Your Mind To Inspirational Thoughts

You must free your mind of all distractions, you cannot focus unless you and your mind are in the present moment. It is no good thinking about what you will have for dinner, or worrying about the argument you had earlier with the next door neighbour. Let it all go, so as you can be left alone with your own thoughts.

This may seem scary for some, as not everyone is used to spending time alone with their thoughts, many of you will have busy lives, or you may be worried that if you think too much, you will open a doorway to some hidden trauma held deep within your mind.

The Mind And Meditation

Just relax! It’s a well intentioned piece of advice; but not a very effective one if this just adds more pressure for a person to  find inner-calmness. With the hustle and bustle of today’s world and technology moving at the speed of light, our minds are overrun with input from the moment we wake up to the moment we try to sleep.

The morning news, friends, family, coworkers, social media barrage us with opinions and trends, information and advice. And that’s not all! Background noise such as music and television can bring even more chaos for the mind to sort through. Regular practice of meditation brings about peace of mind, serenity, and allows the mind to be clear of chatter which then opens the door for intuition and psychic development.

Believe In Yourself

Self belief is a quality that confident, positive people have in abundance. They are often individuals, who have grown up within a warm and loving environment. Their abilities and good qualities praised and nurtured from an early age. Sadly, not everyone is fortunate enough to have had such a good start in life. Indeed, quite the opposite may have occurred. Neglected, unloved and sometimes abused. For these people, believing in themselves and having a healthy sense of self worth can be very hard. They may have been told many times, that they were unlovable, stupid and worthless. Many of us fall somewhere in between these two extremes; And whilst we do have some sense of self worth and belief. There is always room for improvement.

So how do we start to improve our own sense of self love, self worth and self esteem? I believe a good place to start, is through self understanding.
