Affirmations are positive statements that we usually write in the present tense. An example of an affirmation would be ‘I am getting stronger every day’. The reason we write affirmations is to start to retrain our subconscious so that, by repeating the affirmations several times per day, we start to believe that the affirmations are true and, eventually, we will start to change so that the affirmation does become true for us in reality.
Affirmations of the heart can be described as positive statements we create to help us achieve our dreams – those things closest to our hearts! It can also refer to affirmations we create to help us find love or romance. Either way, they should follow the rules that we use for positive affirmations, in general.

The world we live in is becoming more hectic and volatile, as cities and countries become more and more overcrowded, the personal space of an individual is becoming more fraught with friction. Today’s society has become less patient, people are getting used to getting things instantly, from fast food to the latest gadget. This only increases an individuals hunger to fight for whatever they may want. Patience seems to be a thing of the past, and people will do anything to feed their wants and desires.
You do not have to follow the same path as everyone else, you can tread a different path, you can follow the way of the wise, making love, peace and patience your trusty friends. You do not need to argue and fight with life or the world, this will only leave you entrapped within a society that cares more for materialism than the well-being of it’s individuals. Step out of the circle my friend, there is another way, you must drop the need for instant gratification, this only continues the internal fight, which more often than not results in external arguments, be that with your friends and family or a neighbour or work colleagues.

How many times have you heard the saying, ‘ don’t let your heart rule your head’? A lot of people today think that it is better to make decisions using your head. Some people don’t understand intuition, or gut feeling, and believe that the mind is superior to the heart. It is true that the mind does have a lot of power over our lives; however, the heart can be just as powerful.
If you are a Christian, you will be familiar with the Bible and it’s message that love is one of the most important things in life. It teaches us to treat others as we wish to be treated, to love one another and to forgive those who have wronged us. All of these things relate to our hearts, not our minds. Our minds may help us to navigate through life, but our hearts are the ones in control. When you make a decision, do you do it because it will help you to think better or to improve your intelligence? Not usually, I would suspect. Most people make decisions because they want to feel happier and our hearts know what really makes us happy.
Some people argue that the heart and the soul are either one and the same, or are connected in some way. Others believe the soul lies somewhere in the brain. As we are spiritual beings living in a physical body, we can argue that the heart and the brain are both physical organs that have nothing to do with our spirituality, as we won’t need our bodies when we go to the Spirit World; however, as the soul is pure energy that lives on after death, then we can argue that the soul is a loving energy that resonates with the heart.

Automatic writing is exactly what is says. Writing automatically without thinking about what you will write. People commonly think of this technique in connection to their psychic development. But it can also be used as a therapeutic tool for self awareness and self growth. Through a question and answer scenario, you can explore area’s of your life that are troubling you. You write down your question; then, without thinking about it, write down exactly what comes to mind. Even if it is only one word answers; by free association thinking, this method can give you some interesting insight, as to where you are ‘at’ mentally and emotionally. Some of your answers might surprise you! It is believed by cutting out the ‘middle man’ your ‘conscious mind’, and working straight from the ‘unconscious’, you are getting straight to the source of the problem.
The conscious mind, can and does cause conflict and distortion through our fears and ego. The unconscious mind is not hampered by this problem.
By far the most commonly held association for the term ‘automatic writing’ is that which involves opening oneself up to not only your own subconscious but also to spiritual beings and entities who might have some positive information and wisdom to share with you. If you are contemplating doing this, or any type of psychic/spiritual practice it is important to use grounding and protection. For those of you who are unfamiliar with these terms, let me explain them for you. Grounding is the earthing of your energy to the natural energy field of the earth. If you are not grounded you may feel light headed, and off balance. Protection is a psychic shield that protects your auric field. It is through the auric field that we process the energy we come into contact with.
